Book of Zatara

The Book of Zatara.

The Book of Zatara is an ancient grimoire passed down through a prominent family of sorcerers from whom it derives its name. In modern day, the Book belonged to esteemed magician John Zatara. Upon his death, the Book was acquired by Lex Luthor before finally returning to Zatanna.

Early History

The book once belonged to John Zatara, a magician, before it was acquired by Lex Luthor.

Season Eight

John's daughter, Zatanna, discovered it to be in Metropolis and asked Oliver Queen to get it.

Zatanna wanted to use the book to resurrect her father, but the rule was a life for a life, as in she had to trade in her own life for his return. When Clark Kent managed to convince her to stop the magic, she decided to read more to become better in the magical arts.

Notes

• The Book is similar to Isobel's spell book and serves fundamentally the same purpose. The only major difference is that the spell book was a witch's tool which used Latin to invoke magic and drew upon dark forces, while the Book uses backwards phrases and draws upon purer magics.
