"Are you trying to tell me that Conner is the genetic love child of Clark Kent and Lex Luthor?" - Lois Lane about Alexander Luthor/Conner Kent, Scion

Conner Kent, based on the designation Cognitional Neuroplastic Replicant (or CNR for short), also known as Alexander "Lex" Luthor, LX-15 and Kon-El, is a Human/Kryptonian hybrid clone made from half of Clark Kent's DNA and half of Lex Luthor's DNA.

After a clone of Lex destroyed Cadmus Labs, Alexander survived thanks to Tess Mercer. Tess took Alexander in the hopes of keeping him off the same tragic path Lex had gone down. But when Lex's genetic memories manifested in Alexander, Tess locked him in Cadmus, from which Alexander managed to escape. Months later, Lionel Luthor found Alexander in Suicide Slums where he took Alexander by his side to help him rule the Luthor dynasty. But Alexander came to reject Lionel as well as Lex's hatred towards Clark and Tess and accepted Tess's love for him once more. It was discovered that he is a hybrid clone of Clark and Lex and possessed Clark's powers. Clark trained Conner to control his powers and invited him to join the Kent family.

Later, Conner became a student of Jay Garrick's school and joined his team of teen super heroes as Superboy. Conner becomes their leader and they call themselves the Teen Titans.

Physical Appearance

Greenkbeacon

Alexander/Lex as an unstable "teenager" with Lex's memories.

Much like Lex, Alexander shares the same appearance as him when he was as a child and as a teenager even down to Lex's red hair and dark green eyes.

When his existence was discovered as a "small child", he originally wore a blue patient outfit like Lex's clones. After Tess saved him from Cadmus' explosion, Alexander wore casual dress cloths. As a "pre-adolescent", his attire slightly changed into a private school-like fashion. However, he drastically changed into Lex's typical fashion to the point where he shaved his head to resemble Lex (but his red hair later grows back as Alexander was never irradiated with Green kryptonite radiation like Lex). As a "teenager", Alexander had first wore street clothes as he lived in Suicide Slums for a while. After Lionel found him, Alexander changed his clothes into a more defined version of Lex's attire.

Superboy's costume.

When his Human/Kryptonian DNA fully manifested, he began to take on the appearance of Clark, such as his black hair, and also had slowed in his aging, thus looking like Lex when he was a teenager but with Clark's black hair. At first he wore a black t-shirt with a gray shirt underneath, blue jeans and brown farmer boots. After learning of his half-Kryptonian nature and Clark's mentoring, Conner wears a black short-sleeved T-shirt with a red House of El symbol printed on the chest which he keeps tucked into his blue jeans with a brown belt, and a red and black plaid buttoned shirt on top of the t-shirt, which is the costume of Superboy in the comics. When Conner was radiated with Red kryptonite, thanks to Lionel, he wore a black leather jacket, a red hoodie underneath, a black shirt underneath, black jeans and black shoes.

While being a member of Jay Garrick's team of teen heroes, it seems that now his facial features have changed to be more like Clark's. His costume includes a black long-sleeved shirt with a red Mark of El on his chest and red lines streaming down the sleeves and down to the waist, along with blue or sometimes black jeans, a black belt with a gold triangle buckle on it and black and red shoes. He also seems to have adopted a more modern hairstyle.

Personality

During early development, Alexander Luthor's personality seemed to be growing in a highly accelerated pace. As a result, he was possibly dangerous because all of Lex Luthor's memories served as a primary influence for his growth. When first found by Tess Mercer, he was shy, easily frightened and rather sweet. He seemed to grow easily attached to Tess and even professed to love her for her kindness. But as he aged, more of Lex's memories and feelings began to manifest. Although he seemed to really appreciate Tess's attempts at kindness initially, he started to pull away from her, becoming secretive, manipulative and even cruel. He seemed able to pinpoint Tess's own insecurities and then preyed on them without any effort. He also had begun to develop Lex's obsessive fixations on the House of El symbol and more importantly his dislike of the wearer who he deems to be evil. But after feeling betrayed by Lionel Luthor, Alexander came to once again accept Tess's love and set aside Lex's enmity issues.

When his manifestation of Clark Kent's DNA begins, Conner Kent begins to display many of the same characteristics as Clark's personality, such as his sense of justice, a strong attraction to Lois Lane; and kindness as well as remorse over his mistakes but retained Lex's educational learning. While under the influence of red kryptonite, Conner's personality resembles a hybrid of Kal and Lex. Conner is also shown to be headstrong and impulsive during his battle with Doctor Phosphorus.

Powers and Abilities

Conner possesses all the abilities of a Kryptonian due to half of his DNA composed from Clark's DNA (which was recovered by Lex from a sample of Clark's blood), all of which are powered by Earth's yellow sun. His powers appear to be slightly more powerful than Clark's were when he was a teenager, but has only demonstrated half of them. Some of his abilities seem to mirror that of Clark's when he was younger. It seems when he gets angered that his abilities are almost on par with Clark's, however, this may be because Clark developed his powers slowly, meaning he has much greater control and is constantly holding himself back, while Conner developed his abilities rapidly and had trouble holding back.

  • Solar Battery: Conner was created with a sample of Clark's blood, and it's likely that his powers are also gained by absorbing solar energy, like full Kryptonians.
  • Invulnerability: Conner is mostly resistant to physical harm. This ability first manifested when Tess tried to stab him with a needle filled with cyanide and it bent on contact.

Conner's super strength and speed
(click for animation)

  • Super Strength: This ability first manifested when he used it to lift a tractor over his head with ease and during a fight with Clark, he punched through a brick pillar and then threw Clark into an upper loft with a single-handed strike. Despite his strength, he is incapable of truly harming Clark due to his young age and (possibly) half-human heritage; him being only as strong as Clark had been as a teenager, if not slightly less.
  • Super Speed: Conner is much faster than any ordinary human, though due to his age he doesn't appear to be as fast as Clark. He is faster than a speeding bullet; able to run up to a hundred miles per hour and cross a room almost faster than the human eye can see. His mind also works many times faster than humans' are capable of, able to catch bullets in mid-air before they hit him, or anyone else.
ConnerKpowers1

Conner using his heat vision.

  • Heat Vision: Conner can release intense heat and shoot intense fire beams out of his eyes first by sexual stimulation, then by will. This ability first manifested while he was observing Lois' beauty, which aroused him. It was surprisingly strong compared to teenage Clark's heat vision. At first he could only use it in large, destructive bursts, but was able to master it in order to save Clark from kryptonite.During his time at Jay Garrick's school he has learned to control his heat vison so that he is able to blast rose Wilson out of a window without seriously injuring her.
  • Super Hearing: Conner overheard Clark and Tess talking about him being half-Lex.
  • Healing Factor: Clark mentions that Conner's Kryptonian DNA cured his rapid-aging once Conner's powers activated, showing that his healing also repairs genetic damage and defects.
  • Flight/Telekinesis: Conner can easily defy gravity and has developed this specific ability during his time at Jay Garrick's school. His flight ability is somehow different from the one that other Kryptonians usually possess as it is more telekinetic.

Vulnerabilities

Due to his Kryptonian DNA, Conner is vulnerable to kryptonite.

He was shown to be vulnerable to the following types of kryptonite:

After Clark Kent got sick from green kryptonite spores and Jonathan Kent let Helen Bryce take a blood sample from Clark to do some testing, Lex Luthor broke into her office and stole the blood sample. Although Jonathan destroyed the sample, Lex must have kept a sample to later help engineer the clone and stop the rapid-aging problem that his other clones suffered.

When Tess Mercer awakened at Cadmus Labs, she found the young clone who went by the name of "Alexander". She asked who the other people were, Alexander replied that they were his "brothers". When he wasn't paying attention, Tess released an unstable clone. When she told Alexander to run away, he did. Later at the Luthor Mansion, Alexander played with some old soldier toys, while Tess gave him a glass of milk. Unknown to Tess, Alexander had placed one of the toys within the nearby fireplace prior to her arrival.

When Alexander's intellect was discovered as far superior than the average child, Tess planned to send him away for further testing and also due that he was aging abnormally fast but she later reconsidered and decided that what Alexander needed was love. Upon Cat Grant's advice, Tess read Peter Pan to Alexander. He then told her that he loved her to which Tess began to cry as she had never been truly loved by anyone and continued to read the story.

Tess delved herself to prevent Alexander from falling off a righteous path. During a "birthday party" that Tess gave Alexander with many young children to celebrate, Alexander was enjoying it but then started drawing on a paper plate the House of El emblem. With that stroke of memory, Alexander had a seizure which Tess and the therapist ran to his aid. Stealing a key from Tess, he ran from the mansion to find out where his memories are connected to for he believes that the symbol's wearer is "evil" and wants to kill him. At the Kent Farm, Alexander started remembering the times someone else spent there the wearer (recalling when their friendship would be the "thing of legend" and when the wearer's bowtie was tied), as he looked through the pictures in the book. Tess managed to find him, however, she realized that she was too late, as not only did Alexander remember the past but also the emotions that came along with them when they drifted away from each other. Tess continued to reach out to him, but he drifted away believing that she only wanted to help so she could redeem herself from her evil deeds that she committed. Alexander then struck a nerve about the powerful men in her life: Lex Luthor, Oliver Queen, Zod and Clark Kent. When Tess struck him, Alexander refused her help for good as he insulted her for saying there was so much she didn't know about herself. After drawing the House of El emblem in several papers, "Lex" had shaved his head and changed his clothes, redeeming Lex's trademark dark attire and bald-headed figure with a demented smirk on his face.

Weeks later, Tess had moved Alexander/Lex (LX-15) to a locked room in Cadmus Labs, where he had continued to draw the House of El symbol multiple times over the facility's wall and then had escaped, only leaving behind a book Tess had read to him, stating that he was "all grown up now", much to the horror of Clark and Tess.

After shooting at Martha Kent in an attempt to shot then kill Clark, "Alexander Luthor" was found by Lionel Luthor in Suicide Slums (which confused Alexander at first as Lex dropped Lionel 40 stories). Lionel decided to aid Alexander in his goal to rectify the wrongs he made in an alternate world of choosing Clark's doppelganger over Lex's doppelganger. Alexander and Lionel took LuthorCorp back from Tess and Oliver. However, Alexander decided to do away with Lionel and Martha at the mansion. At the loft, Alexander/Lex held Clark and Tess at gunpoint with his kryptonite bullets but was swayed by Clark declaring they were not locked in battle and Tess telling him that she would always be there for him, to which he reluctantly gave up his weapon. When his condition continued to deteriorate as he began to lose Lex's memories and his own, Tess tried to end his suffering with an injection of cyanide but the needle would not penetrate his skin, showing that Alexander was somehow invulnerable.

After sometime of hiding and during the start of his metamorphosis which resulted in him losing all of his memories, he started manifesting the Kryptonian half of his DNA, with his hair changed to black, and started calling himself "Conner" as a reference to his doctors referring to him as CNR (Cognitional Neuroplastic Replicant). He also heard of the Blur (whom he became a fan of) and Lex Luthor. While Clark Kent and Tess Mercer were talking in the Kent house, Conner demonstrated his power of super strength by lifting the tractor in the barn. Now he was being taken under Clark's wing to be given guidance, wanted to know more and more about himself. He realized that he and Clark were a lot alike; he even questioned if Clark was his father in which Clark stated that he preferred the term "brother" and started understand the exact nature and cause of his heat vision when he saw Lois Lane. Clark then started training Conner (like he did for Kara Kent) to control his powers. During the training, Clark showed a picture of his own parents (Martha and Jonathan) to Conner. Conner later overheard Clark and Tess talk about him. He was soon found by Lionel Luthor using a red kryptonite ring to release Conner's Alexander side. Alexander watched as Lionel was about to kill Lois, but he then used his super speed to whisk her away to safety. Due to the ring, Conner's emotions got the better of him as he wanted to have Lois all to himself, however, Clark was able to destroy the ring. Lionel appeared and used green kryptonite on Clark, just so he can get Conner out but he stayed to help Clark. Clark then invited Conner to be part of his family, earning the name "Conner Kent" and attending Smallville High School. Conner designed a black t-shirt with the House of El emblem in red on his chest.

Soon after, Conner went to Washington D.C. to visit Martha. Tess later took drastic measures to hide Conner since Lionel originally wanted to use Conner's heart for Lex, thinking it was a "more poetic choice" but couldn't find him.

Season Eleven

It is revealed that Conner has begun attending a school for gifted children run by Jay Garrick.

1380905375211

Conner faces Doctor Phosphorus.

While Doctor Phosphorus, who had escaped from prison, terrorizes some children and their parents making fires starting all over the place, Conner Kent, now called Superboy, suddenly appears and engages into a fight with him. Phosphorus then sets a Ferris wheel on fire and says to Superboy to choose between stopping him or saving the kids on the wheel from the fire.

1380905449743

Conner goes to save the children on the flaming wheel.

Surprisingly, Megan Morse, Blue Beetle, Speedy, Zan and Jayna, who along with Superboy are all members of Jay Garrick's team, appear and Megan says he must go and save the kids on the wheel and leave Phosphorus to them. Jayna transformed herself into a gorilla and went to help Superboy with the flaming wheel.

Conner argues with Jay Garrick.

Later Superboy shouts to Megan to watch out as some wreckage are going to fall on her. Jay Garrick then appears on time and saves her leaving both Conner and Megan surprised.

After the fight Jay appears saying that they actually failed on their mission, making them feel very disappointed about themselves. Conner argues with Jay saying that they did stop Phosphorus but Jay responds by saying they didn't deal with the fire or the destruction. He then tells them to return to the school.

Conner insults Jay.

At the team's headquarters Garrick talks to his students a little bit about Bart Allen's life, how Bart was the inspiration for the creation of the team and the Titan Corporation, which funded the school. He tells them he is very disappointed about their first mission and he is not sure if they ever will be ready for field work. Mia says that they couldn't just sit there and do nothing while Phosphorus was causing havoc and Conner says that Garrick is not fair with them. Garrick then informs them that the D.E.O. wrangled Phosphorus back to prison and that they would probably succeed stopping him themselves, without the team's interference.

Teen Titans Smallville 02 1381520979783

Jay confronts Conner.

Conner asks if he knows how Phosphorus escaped in the first place but Garrick says it's not their problem and if they make some more mistakes like this one it won't be even possible for Superman to convince the public that this team should not be locked away, too. Conner then angrily asks Garrick if the reason he treats them like this is because he is jealous they are younger and faster than him. Jay suddenly speeds towards Conner pushing him to a wall and says to him that the "S" on his chest means his teammates look to him for leadership and none of them actually know that he is a clone of both Clark Kent and Lex Luthor, so he must choose which of his sides of his DNA will win out.

Teen Titans Smallville 02 1381521371209

Conner kisses Megan after he reveals to her that he is half-Lex.

Later at the top of Golden Gate Bridge, Conner meets with Megan and they talk a little bit about his powers, Megan's home planet, Mars and her "uncle", J'onn, who is on Mars and trying to reestablish their atmosphere so that the planet can be someday humanity's second home. Conner asks Megan if she and J'onn really are the last two Martians and she says that the age of Mars has passed with J'onn being the sole green and her being the last white, while transforming into her real Martian form. Conner then comforts her by saying he knows how she feels and reveals to her he is half-Luthor but Megan responds by saying that she already knew it from the time they first met, because of her mind-reading ability.

Teen Titans Smallville 02 1381521450877

Conner reveals his fear for taking the leadership of the team.

After that they kiss and then continue their conversation with Megan saying she will join Martian Manhunter on Mars once her tenure on Earth has ended and that she enjoys the opportunity to make amends for her actions. Conner says that Martha Kent tried to raise him the same way she did with Clark but he didn't want to be a burden so they both decided he would be better at the school. He then says that he needs to be his own man and be responsible for his own actions so he can make Superman proud and be the kind of leader Jay Garrick thinks he has the potential to be. Megan asks him what stops him from doing it and Conner responds that he is afraid of doing something wrong and getting everyone killed.

1384014325827

Conner finds out that someone has attacked the team.

While Conner and Megan return to the team's headquarters, Megan feels that something is wrong at the compound. When they arrive they find Mia trying to calm down Jayna, who is lying on the floor screaming her brother's name. Mia asks what is happening to Jayna and Megan responds that this reaction is caused by her connection to Zan, meaning that something has happened to him. Conner uses his super-hearing and hears Jaime, inside the building, talking to a young woman asking her why she is doing this. Conner then says that they've got trouble.

Conner attacks Rose.

Inside Jaime and Zan's room, the woman reveals that she is Slade Wilson' s daughter and that the reason she is attacking them is because of her father. She is continuing his task, which was to stop and imprison the vigilantes. She then says that Jaime and Zan were just practice for her. Suddenly Conner appears and strikes her with his heat vision through the window, outside of the building and saying that she will need the practice.

Conner challenges Rose.

When Conner arrives outside and sees Jay immobilized Jay tells him not to worry about him and waste any more time but get to work. Rose then threatens the rest of the team to stand down or she will kill their teammates by detonating the bomb that Jaime has on his back. Conner tells her if she wants a real fight she should confront him and leave the rest of his team out of this. Rose then says that his proposal makes it easier on her because he is the reason she is there in the first place, while revealing that she has a green kryptonite sword especially for him.

Outside the team's headquarters, Conner confronts Rose, who carries a green-kryptonite sword. While Conner speeds towards her, Rose says that he might be strong but he is also careless, and then wounds him with her sword. Seeing him hurt, an obviously worried Megan calls his name but Conner tells her and the rest of the team to stay back. As Rose gets ready to attack him again, she says that the problem with most of the heroes is that they aren't willing to kill. A weakened Conner, both from the green kryptonite and his wound, tries to prove her wrong as he attacks her with his heat vision but he misses. He then tries to attack her again but the effect of the kryptonite on him has also weakened his powers. Conner then asks Rose that if she is so better than then why she haven't killed Jaime, Zan or even Stargirl yet. He also says that she might not be the big bad killer, she wants everyone to think of her but while Conner talks to her, Rose proceeds to attack him once again and this time she wounds him in the belly. Rose tells him that he should not think she is just playing with him because she is the one to blame for all the innocent people that got killed when she freed Phosphorus and she also says that she is a real killer and every person who has an "S" on his chest is just as bad. Then Conner asks her why she did not go after Superman in the first place, before he hits her in the face.

Conner hits Rose.

Meanwhile, Conner telepathically communicates with Megan and tells her to coordinate the team and free Jay Garrick.

Conner saves the day and D.E.O. arrests Rose.

Mia, who is still suffering from drug poisoning, says that she can't fight in her condition but Conner, through the telepathic link, tells her to just start shooting arrows. While Rose is ready to kill Conner with her sword, Conner uses his telekinesis to control Mia's arrows aiming Rose. Rose then threatens Conner that if he kills her she will blow up his friends and their home base. Suddenly Jay appears in a helicopter bringing D.E.O.'s soldiers with him and telling them that Rose is the one who freed their prisoner. Conner says to Rose that the "S" on his chest means "Hope" not "Murder" but he can't just let her walk away. Rose says that he must go ahead and kill her because she won't get sent to a prison, like the one her father was sent and then proceeds to commit suicide but Conner uses the arrows with his telekinesis and destroys Rose's sword. Conner succeeds to take the detonator from Rose and then the D.E.O. arrests her. Suddenly Zan, who has been transformed into an ice man, along with Jaime appear being on top of a huge pink dinosaur, in which Jayna has been transformed. Watching them the team shouts to the D.E.O.'s soldiers that the dinosaur is with them.

JK-00022

Clark tells Conner about his decision.

Later, Superman visits Conner and tells him that Jay told him he was proud for him. Superman also says they are lucky they had people like Jay in their lives. Conner also says that he might visit Rose in Alcatraz because he wants her to know that just because her father was a tool, it doesn't mean she has to be one too and Clark says he believes he and his team of Titans are going to be fine. Conner then asks Clark why he came to visit him and Clark says he is going to have a very important conversation with the President. Conner asks what this has to do with him and Clark says it is going to change the way people look at that "S" on his chest.

Weeks later, Zatanna turns a young girl, named Rachel Roth, over to Jay Garrick and the Teen Titans at the airport, with the team being very excited for their new teammate.

Jaime is awoken by the Scarab, which informs him about an alien threat but neither the Scarab nor the Titans know what exactly it is. He and the others observe, while the rings approach their base, and even one of the rings identify one of them, Megan, as a potential harvester but she is deemed incompatible by the ring, which then moves on in search of another host. After that, Conner says they need to get Watchtower on the line immediately.

Smallville - Chaos 007 (Digital-Empire)018

Conner saves a family from possessed civilians.

In the streets of Metropolis, a family tries to run away from the possessed people but fortunately Superboy arrive just in time to rescue them. A girl then asks him if he is also able to save them from the aforementioned falling plane. A startled Superboy, who just saw the plane coming towards them, creates a shield around him and the family hoping that it will be enough to prevent the civilians from getting hurt. Luckily, Supergirl arrives and catches the plane on midair, saving everyone. Then she confronts Superboy saying it was about time she met the rest of the family.

Conner Kent

Superboy in the comics.

In the comics, Conner Kent (also known as Kon-El and Superboy), is a clone made with the combined genetic material of both Superman and Lex Luthor. When Superman died fighting Doomsday, Lex and Project Cadmus proceeded to create a clone of Superman. Initially the human donor was believed to be Director Westfield, but in truth, Lex had his DNA used instead. He also went so far as to include a mental suggestion that would allow Lex to take control of the clone at any time. Superboy however escaped before reaching maturity and attempted to take on the name of "Superman". Unfortunately no one took him serious, instead calling him "Superboy". Although he disliked the name at first, when Superman was resurrected, Superboy accepted the name gladly.

With Superman back in Metropolis, Superboy moved to Hawaii, where he became a somewhat famed teen super-hero, eventually working alongside Robin, Kid Flash/Impulse and Wonder Girl as members of Young Justice and Teen Titans and even the Legion of Super-Heroes.

However for a long period, Superboy lacked a family or any sort of real stability. That changed when Superman finally began to accept Superboy, giving him the Kryptonian name of "Kon-El" and revealing his secret identity to him. After introducing Kon-El to his parents in Smallville, Kon was taken in by Martha Kent and Jonathan Kent, gaining the secret identity of Conner Kent.

Around this time Lex revealed to Robin (Tim Drake) and Superboy the truth about Superboy's origin, and even tried to take control of Conner. Conner managed to escape Luthor's control, but feeling violated and dirty by his actions, left the Titans for a period. He eventually returned to action, during the Infinite Crisis, where he was killed in battle against the alternate universe version of Clark, Superboy-Prime. Conner's death greatly affected those close to him, particularly Wonder Girl and Robin, both of who made desperate attempts to resurrect Superboy. Surprisingly even Lex mourned the death of what he deemed to be his 'son'.

Conner returned to life however during the events of the Final Crisis, in which Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes found a way to resurrect him and a deceased Kid Flash in the 31st Century, so as to help defeat Superboy-Prime. After their victory, Superboy, Superman and Kid Flash returned to the 21st where Conner was reunited with Martha Kent at the Smallville Farm. Conner would later face off against Lex Luthor, as well as meet his cousin Lori. During their confrontation, Lex disavowed Superboy as his child, calling him a failed experiment. Superboy and Kid Flash would also reunite with Wonder Girl and Red Robin in the Teen Titans.

Superboy in the New 52.

In the New 52 Universe, Superboy is a clone, created using the DNA of Superman and an unknown human donor. He is created by a project called N.O.W.H.E.R.E., an organization attempting to control the new generation of meta humans. It was later revealed that Conner is a clone of the future son of Superman and Lois Lane, Jon Kent, who died when he was less than four years old from the same source that gave him powers, the yellow sun. Superboy was created by N.O.W.H.E.R.E.'s leader, Harvest, who not only had already created some failed clones of Jon after the death of the original, in order to use him as a living weapon to wipe out all the Metahumans but also during the process of raising Jon (clone) he started to think of him as his own son so after the death of the latest clone he decided to create Conner in order to stabilize Jon.

After learning speech and human functions by observing the people surrounding him, he escapes his cloning tank before being terminated. His caretaker comes to take over the operation, he is subjected to virtual reality and was subjected to power exercising procedures to monitor his telekinesis as his powers are growing everyday. Superboy was then assigned to deal with the Teen Titans, while also dealing with several aliens and teenage metahumans for N.O.W.H.E.R.E.

His first mission involves killing Wonder Girl but instead incurs the wrath of the entire Teen Titans. Superboy fights them and defeats them all, but not before he is convinced N.O.W.H.E.R.E. is using him solely as a weapon to hurt others. Superboy takes revenge on N.O.W.H.E.R.E, but is captured by them and prepared to be terminated, until the Teen Titans return and rescue him. Superboy is now part of the Teen Titans and since he left N.O.W.H.E.R.E, he is living in New York City near the base of the Teen Titans.

Superboy will meet Superman and Supergirl during the fight with another Kryptonian, H'El, but he doesn't get along with Supergirl as they have fight against each other several times.

Alexander Luthor
LexLuthorClone

"Lex Luthor II" in the comics.

In the 1990s, Lex Luthor himself was dying of cancer after years of wearing a kryptonite ring on his hand. The Cancer grew to the point where Lex's body died. Wanting to cheat death, Lex had himself cloned and had his mind transferred from his old dying body to the younger clone body that was also more fit and with a full head and beard of red hair. He took on the new identity of Alexander "Lex" Luthor II, Lex's illegitimate child from Australia and retook LexCorp while posing as a "good guy", even pursuing a relationship with the Matrix Supergirl and continued to torment Superman from the shadows. However, everything quickly fell apart for Lex when his new clone body began to deteriorate and age at a rapid rate (this being one of many clones that were becoming ill at the time). This caused Lex to begin to slip up, as Lois Lane discovered proof that Lex Luthor had years earlier murdered a female LexCorp employee and framed an innocent man for the murder. This led Lois to uncover actual proof surrounding Lex faking his death and masquerading as his son, which caused Luthor to systematically destroy Lois' life and have her fired from the Daily Planet. Lois fought back and with help from Superman, exposed the truth about Lex Luthor, concerning faking his death, and the evil criminal activities to the public. Right before his body became so old that he couldn't move or communicate, Lex activated a "Doomsday Plan" to destroy Metropolis. The city was burned to the ground and thousands killed as Luthor became a permanent prisoner in his cloned body.

However, aid would come in the form of the demon Neron; Luthor promptly sold his soul in exchange for Neron restoring his body to perfect health. Returning to a rebuilt Metropolis, Luthor turned himself over to the police and was put on trial, where he was acquitted of all crimes when Lex Luthor claimed to have been kidnapped by renegade scientists who replaced him with a clone, who was responsible for all the crimes he was charged with. Luthor was free to return to business at LexCorp and later decided to instead take up politics.

Notes

  • Conner's hair transforms from Lex's red hair color to Clark's black hair color due to the emergence of his Kryptonian DNA from within his human DNA.
  • Conner wears the trademark black T-shirt with the red House of El emblem that Superboy currently wears in the comics. Conner has also adapted his clothing attire to Clark's casual farm wear attire such as a single T-shirt with jeans and boots even a flannel plaid t-shirt.
  • In the comics, when Clark invited Conner to become a member of the Kent family, he brought him to Smallville, Kansas to live on the Kent farm with Clark's parents. Martha gave Conner Clark's old room and loft and Clark's first pair of glasses from his high school years. Conner is also responsible for the well being of Krypto the Superdog while also attending Smallville High School with Lori Luthor (Lex's niece).
  • This is Conner's second official television appearance. His first appearance was in the Cartoon Network animated series Young Justice. For the majority of Young Justice, it was believed that he was simply Superman's clone until the episode "Agendas" where it was revealed that Superboy was indeed created from the combined DNA of Superman and Lex Luthor.
  • Conner is the fourth member of the Teen Titans from the comics to appear in Smallville, the first three being Bart Allen, Victor Stone, and Mia Dearden.
  • Conner Kent has the same initials as Clark Kent: C. K..
  • Conner's Smallville origin where he's Lex Luthor's clone who had Clark Kent's Kryptonian DNA mixed to stabilize him is actually a reversal of his comic book incarnation being Superman's clone with Lex Luthor's human DNA mixed to stabilize him.
  • Interestingly, at Comic-Con 2010, one of the questions asked by a fan was if Superboy would make an appearance. The question can be viewed Here @ 1:40.
  • Conner was not shown on-screen interacting with Chloe Sullivan.
  • Conner was originally supposed to have a cameo during Clark and Lois's wedding walking Martha down the aisle but Lucas Grabeel was too busy filming his new show Switched at Birth to come on for a "blink and you'll miss it" scene. As such, Jeff Hage was used in his place.
  • While Clark's dream of helping Lex turn good again never materializes, it finds some fulfillment in Alexander becoming Conner.
  • In both the comics and Smallville, Conner Kent as an adult is shown to look like Lex Luthor but with Superman's black hair.
