Dr. Jansen is the chief scientist for LuthorCorp's Project Scion.
He appears on the Luthor Mansion, giving Lex Luthor the latest reports of the results from Project Scion, informing him that the dust that is the remainder of Milton Fine's ship has liquefied. Dr. Jansen warns that the liquid is sentient and alive, subdued only by meteor rock.
Later, Lex is in the Project Scion labs with Dr. Jansen, trying to find the missing liquid substance, that escaped as the result of the showdown between Clark Kent and Lana Lang, in a LuthorCorp facility. After he leaves, the material slips out from hiding and attaches itself to a female lab technician.
