Excelsior Academy is one of the top boarding schools in the country. Terrence Reynolds, the principal of Smallville High School, was the headmaster until he was fired by Lionel Luthor. (Redux)

Lex Luthor attended the school, but hated it, being picked on by a number of older students including Oliver Queen. He had one friend, Duncan Allenmeyer, who hadn't come from a family with money. After finding Queen and his friends cheating on exams, Lex tries to blackmail the bullies, against Duncan's choice. In anger over Duncan's threat to tell the headmaster, Lex gets into a fight with him, badly injuring Duncan. Duncan, not paying attention, steps out onto the street in front of a speeding car. Lionel Luthor managed to keep Duncan alive in a coma. Years later, Duncan uses abilities to try to kill the students responsible for his condition. Alden, one of the boys, is impaled by falling debris at a reunion at Excelsior. (Reunion)

While attending Excelsior Academy circa 1992, Lionel Luthor was called to the school because Lex was sitting on a high balcony in the rain, apparently hallucinating that he was rocking his baby brother Julian to sleep. Lionel tried to snap him out of his delusion and Lex dropped the blanket off the ledge (Memoria).
