Ezra Small is the founder of Smallville, and an ancestor of Henry Small and Lana Lang. Around the time he founded Smallville, he stumbled upon a group of caves and saw writings and drawings foretelling of Kryptonians and the future.
Ezra was most well-known for his prophetic visions of Smallville's future, which he often wrote down in code form. To this very day, many people still are trying to decipher the meaning of Ezra's prophecies. Some of Ezra's prophecies were about an alien who would come to Earth and be raised by humans. (This would eventually turn out to be Clark Kent, otherwise known as Kal-El.)
