Dr. Klein (sometimes spelled Kline[1]) was the vet who checked over Shelby after the armored truck robbery. Clark asked him if he had found anything unusual, saying that Shelby sometimes seemed strong. Klein replied that Shelby's strength was actually a little below average and he was a perfectly, normal healthy dog.
Dr. Klein left the barn when Lex turned up.

- His name might be a nod to Dr. Klein from Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. That Dr. Klein (portrayed by Kenneth Kimmins) was employed by S.T.A.R. Labs.
- Alvin Sanders played Dale Ross, Pete Ross' uncle, in a deleted scene in Pilot.
