Isis with cat eyes

  • Super Strength: Isis was able to rip open a metal door with one hand. She also threw a security guard clear across the room without little effort. Isis was able to push Clark Kent away and at least 12 feet high with minimal effort.
  • Super Speed: Isis was able to disappear to a nearby rooftop in the time it took for Clark to save Cat Grant from one of her energy bolts, take her to a coffee shop and then return at super speed. However her speed is not comparable to that of a Kryptonian, as when Clark was moving at super speed she remained slowed.
  • Flight: Isis flew off the Daily Planet rooftop. As she flew, she left behind a yellow trail.
  • Super Vision: When Isis uses this ability her eyes match that of cat. She demonstrated telescopic vision when she escaped from Clark and spied on him from afar on a rooftop and night vision as she was able to see Clark perfectly in the pitch black of night . Also when she uses this ability everything she sees is in a shade of yellow.
  • Super Intelligence: Isis stated to Clark Kent that compared to herself he has the intelligence of a child.
  • Telepathy: She was able to read Clark Kent's mind and insulted him telling him that he doesn't know what love is and he doesn't truly love Lois Lane. She was also able to sense Oliver Queen's presence
  • Telekinesis: Isis is able to rip away the opening of Osiris' sarcophagus. She was also able to suspend Clark Kent in the air while she conjured magic ropes to bind him.

    Isis blasts energy at Oliver

  • Energy Projection: Isis demonstrated this four times. The first was when she was about to kill Cat Grant but was saved by Clark. The second and third was in a battle with Oliver Queen and fourth was when Clark threatened to destroy Osiris' heart.
  • Magic: Isis was able to magically restart Osiris' heart by conjuring a spell that made it beat again. She was also able to bind Clark in magical ropes he was unable to break even with his great strength.
  • Empathy: Isis knew that Oliver missed Chloe. She stated that he was brave even though he was lonely. She knew every time that he tried to fill the void the lonely he became.
  • Possession: Isis can possess anybody, like when she inhabited Lois' body.

Vulnerabilities

Isis was dependent on sunlight being shone through the amulet of Isis in order to be able to possess whoever was holding it, such as Lois Lane.

In addition, if sunlight or Clark's heat vision was shone through the amulet, Isis's spirit would leave her vessel and return to the amulet.

Isis returns back to the amulet

At the museum Isis prepares to bring Osiris back to life, but she opens the sarcophagus only to find that it is full of dirt. She breaks down in tears just as Clark comes in and tells her it is over. Isis declares that it cannot be over because their love is eternal and that Clark knows nothing about love. She then proceeds to push him onto the sarcophagus and binds him down, getting ready to sacrifice him to Osiris. Cat Grant who watched her from distance is shocked and she accidentally knocks a statue over and breaks it. Isis turns and Cat runs away when she bumps into Green Arrow. She senses Oliver behind her and notes that he doesn’t want to hurt Lois' body and then throws an energy ball at him, which he dodges. Oliver reveals to Clark that the only way to trap Isis is for the sun to hit the amulet again, thus trapping her spirit. Isis again throws an energy ball at Oliver long enough for Clark to break free of his restraints and grab Osiris' heart. Clark threatens to destroy the heart unless Isis releases Lois. Isis, seeing no hope, attempts to stab herself. Oliver fires an arrow at the amulet, sending it towards Clark, who uses his heat vision on the amulet, retrapping Isis in the amulet and freeing Lois.

Isis as she appears in the comics

The character appeared in several late 1970s DC Comics publications, and was re-imagined and introduced into the DC Universe in 2006 as a counterpart for the Shazam!-derived character Black Adam. Isis was reintroduced in the limited series 52. She first appears as Adrianna Tomaz, a beautiful refugee of Kahndaq who was enslaved by Intergang. Representatives of Intergang initially offered her as a bribe to Black Adam, along with $2,000,000 in pure gold, in exchange for allowing the organization to use the country as a base of operations. He killed them all with his bare hands as a sign of his displeasure and allowed Adrianna to go free. Instead, she followed and verbally admonished him for his hard-line policies and oversights. Adam comes to trust her and decides to grant her the same powers he possesses. He brings her to the tomb of his wife and children to retrieve the amulet of Isis. Adam asked Captain Marvel to confer the powers upon Adrianna. By repeating the words "I am Isis", she transformed into her new form.

She and Adam travel across Kahndaq freeing enslaved children as well as searching for her lost brother Amon. They slowly fall in love, and Adam eventually proposes to her with a jewel given to Cleopatra. She happily accepts; they are married in Week Sixteen by the authority of Captain Marvel despite Intergang sending a suicide bomber to the wedding. They eventually find Amon tortured and crippled in an underground basement. Amon is saved although even Isis' powers cannot repair his destroyed nervous system. Her despair is short-lived as Black Adam mercifully imbues Amon with a portion of his own power, allowing him to transform into Osiris. By her brother's insistence Isis convinces her husband to go on a world tour to change their public image. They publicly reveal their human identities while visiting the United States. However, they are attacked by a revamped Suicide Squad. Isis is nearly killed by Persuader until Osiris flies through him by accident.

Isis and Black Adam

Isis is killed by Pestilence when the Four Horsemen of Apokolips ambush her and Black Adam. Embittered by disappointment and anger, Adrianna implores Adam to seek vengeance for herself and her dead brother. After finding the body Black Adam manages to temporarily resurrect Adrianna using a Lazarus Pit. Now crueler and convinced that the Earth is contaminated with evil, she and Adam journey to the Rock of Eternity. There they depose of Captain Marvel, who had taken Shazam's place as the Keeper of the Rock. She recruits Mary Marvel into her plan to wipe evil from the planet and battles the Justice Society when they travel to the Rock, throwing Jay Garrick into the mists surrounding it. The battles rages into Kahndaq, where Isis murders several innocent bystanders who had arrived to witness the return of their leader. Black Adam reluctantly agreed to use his own power to bring Shazam back with the hope that he will be able to cure Isis of her madness. Instead, an enraged Shazam strips their powers and turns them both into statues. Soon after, a mysterious figure appears before the statues claiming them as his "champions". During Brightest Day, a resurrected Osiris carries the statues back to Kahndaq but is unable to reverse their condition. According to the Entity Osiris was brought back to rescue Adrianna. Currently they are located within Deathstroke's stronghold.

Quotes

Chloe: In textbook talk, Isis is the goddess of love, and life, and healing. She even marched to the ends of the earth to help jump-start the man she loved. I want Clark to have that kind of loyalty in his life, but I'm just not sure it's from you.
Lana: I would do anything for Clark.
Chloe: Even kill. What a lucky guy. What the textbook left out is that Isis is also the goddess of the underworld. She's responsible for bringing the great god Ra to his knees.
Lana: You believe that I would do that to Clark.
Chloe: Not intentionally, but I realize now that you're capable of it. You should just know that I'm not gonna let that happen.
Season Seven, Wrath

Isis: This vessel may once have been called Lois, but now serves Isis.
Season Ten, Isis

Notes

Isis

Adrianna is transformed into Isis

  • The costume worn by Erica Durance as Isis in this episode is very similar to how it is depicted in the comics.
  • The museum curator named Adrianna, could in-fact be the Smallville version of Adrianna Tomaz, who is the comic book super heroine version of Isis in the DC Comic Universe.
  • In the comics the Amulet of Isis is actually used a tiara, rather than a necklace.
  • When Lois/Isis is performing the ritual she picks up the dagger of Teth Adam (Black Adam).
