Spectre as he appears in the comics

Jim Corrigan/Spectre first appeared in More Fun Comics #52 (February, 1940), created by Jerry Siegel and Bernard Baily. Corrigan was a cop, who was dropped in a cement-filled barrel into a river by a criminal. Now dead, Corrigan's anger-filled spirit bonded with the entity Aztar, and became the Spectre. He became a member of the Justice Society of America. Decades later, Corrigan's remains were finally put to rest, separating Corrigan's spirit (which entered the afterlife) and Aztar. Aztar has taken on other hosts (turning them into the Spectre) like Hal Jordan.

Notes[]
