Linda Lake was a columnist for the Daily Planet. She wrote the "Daily Dish" gossip column and used her metahuman power to transform herself into water in order to obtain inside or personal information for her column. She was caught in the second meteor shower that bombarded Smallville, when she got too close and her news van went crashing into Crater Lake.

When Linda exposed a sports star for using steroids, he attempted to kill her but she managed to elude him and then drown him. Later, Linda uses her power to find out that Lana Lang was wary about accepting Lex Luthor's marriage proposal because of her lingering feelings for Clark Kent. Lex also got Linda to find anything out on Clark.

Linda infiltrated Chloe's apartment and overheard Chloe state that Clark was an alien. She wrote another story about him but Chloe Sullivan broke into her office and smashed her laptop. Linda then chased Chloe with a nail gun, intending to kill her, but was run over by Lana. She burst into a splash of water, which drained away, and her fate was not revealed.

Reporter Caught in Meteor Shower Young reporter still missing after last week's meteor shower

SMALLVILLE - Some call it a mystery as Linda Lake, a journalist reporting on one of Smallville's frequent meteor showers, went missing in action. While covering the story for KPAZ News Channel 54, a meteor struck down perhaps only feet away from Ms. Lake.

The video recording of the field report was recovered from the camera, yet it is totally unclear whether or not the meteor actually struck the young woman. No remains of her were found, yet no one has seen or heard from her since the shower took place.

We were able to view the video footage from that day. As the video cuts in and out of static and other such interference, you can see bits and pieces including the meteor coming into frame. One second Linda Lake is there, and the next she is gone. Literally vanished in a cloud of smoke and ash.

Investigators have searched the area over and over looking for some type of clue that she perished in the strike. It is being assumed that she lost her life but with no forensic evidence to prove such a fate, it is hard to say for sure. Her family and friends have not spoken to her since that day and have no reason to believe that she wouldn't contact them if she were okay. Needless to say they are extremely upset by her disappearance and are urging anyone who knows anything at all or who have seen her in the last few days to contact local authorities.

It would not be unusual for a meteor to completely incinerate a body but what is unusual is that not one single fragment of bone was left behind for investigators to recover for identification purposes. The area has been combed by the forensics unit of the Kansas state police and they are diligently working to come to a conclusion.

All other people who were at the impact site were either identified by forensics, managed to escape harm of were accounted for by their admittance to the hospital. But the whereabouts of Linda Lake still remain a mystery.

Smallville is all too familiar with the mystery of both the frequent meteor showers as well as the strange people and events which result from them and have local skeptics wondering if Linda Lake will turn up at some point in the near future as a new and not so improved version of her old self.

In a near state of desperation to produce some type of answer as to where she could possibly be, police have contacted multiple psychics, clairvoyants and others who are gifted with a sixth sense to aid them in the investigation. So far nothing has led to a definite answer however, any information that has been produced is being kept strictly confidential until these leads prove fruitful.
