Major Zod is a clone of General Zod made twenty years before Krypton's destruction. During General Zod's youth, blood samples were take from soldiers as part of an experiment to preserve the Kryptonian race in the event of Krypton's destruction. The blood samples were stored in the Orb; Tess Mercer opened the Orb, which created the clones of Zod and a battalion of Kandorian soldiers on Earth. Major Zod currently commands his army of Kandorian soldiers on Earth, as they attempt to restore the Kryptonian powers that were removed by Jor-El.

[edit] Physical Appearance
Major Zod's physical appearance is the same as how Zod looked when he was a Major in the Kryptonian army. He had no facial hair and always wore his Kryptonian dog tags.
[edit] Personality
Major Zod, like the original, is an unforgiving soldier and is in command of his army. Like the real Zod he demands respect and makes his soldiers "Kneel before Zod".
Major Zod is a master manipulator. He manipulated Tess Mercer into buying RAO Corporation, and later distracted her long enough to kidnap the Jor-El clone that she has captured and put in her wine cellar (although Tess had planned to let Zod capture Jor-El).
[edit] Powers and Abilities
Major Zod lacks the powers and abilities that a Kryptonian would normally receive under a yellow sun. This is due to Jor-El, who radiated the DNA of all the clones in the Orb with blue kryptonite.
As one of the cloned Kryptonians who's irradiated DNA is fused with Blue kryptonite radiation, Major Zod will never experience natural Kryptonian abilties under a yellow sun. Instead, because of the radiation, his powers work under a Red sun but still work in the same way physically, storing up sun energy like a battery for future use.
Despite this, Major Zod retains many skills and abilities. He is a skilled swordsman, capable of chopping off Coats' head with a single blow. He also retains detailed knowledge of Kryptonian technology; he adapted LuthorCorp technology to turn John Corben's body into a kryptonite-powered robot, and built RAO Corporation into a company capable of building solar towers.
[edit] Early Life
Zod's clone was created 20 years before the destruction of Krypton, and had all of Zod's memories before then.
[edit] Season Eight
Major Zod was created from the Orb holding it in his hand appearing naked in the back garden of the Luthor Mansion and in the middle of Zod's family crest.
[edit] Season Nine
Major Zod along with his soldiers, he took over the Luthor Mansion, where he imprisoned and interrogated Tess Mercer. Confused by their sudden appearance on Earth without having none of the powers they were supposed to have under the yellow sun, Zod's troops soon began to question his leadership and knocked him unconscious. Zod eventually assured them that he would find the answers that they were looking for or die trying. Trusting his word, all the troops knelt before him. When they left the mansion, they erased all the footage of the past three weeks.
When an airborne virus that turned the human citizens of Metropolis into mutant zombies, Zod discovered the virus had been released by Coats, one of his Kandorian soldiers. He demanded an explanation, figuring that his recklessness could reveal their existence to the humans... even Tess Mercer. Coats came back with information that a super-powered Kryptonian hero was on Earth, and was responsible for saving the humans using his Kryptonian blood. Coats gave Zod a piece of paper with the House of El brand, believing it to have been made by Jor-El. Coats also gave a sample of the blood to Major Zod, so he could track the Kryptonian down wherever he may be or whoever. Though he was impressed with his results, Zod felt that Coats' reckless actions almost put the welfare of the Kandorians in jeopardy, so he beheaded Coats with a sword.
Zod created the RAO Corporation to make solar tower technology; Tess Mercer acquired the company without knowing of his involvement. She announced the acquisition at the Luthor Mansion, where Zod appeared to congratulate her on the accomplishment. Zod then asked Tess to ask her to find "the Blur", but she asked him to be equal partners in his endeavors so he denied her request. He told his Kandorian spy, who acted as Tess' security guard, to force her to tell him about the Blur or to kill her. She ended up overpowering the guard, and gave Zod the guard's bloody dog tags.
Zod made a promise to his fellow Kandorians to find the traitor Jor-El so they could force him to return their powers and so they could become the gods that they were meant to be and Kandor could rise again. Zod met with Tess, hoping she would lead him to Jor-El which she said she was already working on. Tess later found Jor-El at the Kent Farm and kidnapped him, hoping to protect Kal-El; in the end Zod betrayed her by taking him from her.Zod then beat Jor-El in an attempt to force him to reveal how he had taken their powers and kept them for himself. Jor-El revealed that he used a blue crystal on the Orb so that nobody would have powers, before revealing to Zod that they are in fact clones of their former selves, who had gone on to live full lives; and that General Zod had partly destroyed Krypton. Zod dismissed Jor-El's claims and realized that Jor-El had spawned an heir in his later years and sent it to Earth, where he had become the Blur. Zod then released Jor-El, who went to find his son. He later tracked Jor-El's son to a lake, where he buried Jor-El and engraved the Mark of El on a nearby stone as Zod watched on.
As Zod was giving each soldier a task, it was part of his plot to infiltrate the human society in order to have the Solar Tower built. However, Clark appeared in his Kryptonian/Blur costume, and Zod had all the Kandorians "kneel before Kal-El".
[edit] Alternate Future
In the future, Zod declared himself as "General Zod", and took over the Earth with his Kryptonian abilities. Living in the Luthor Mansion with Tess Mercer at his side, he had Lois Lane brought to the Mansion for questioning as he took the Legion Ring. Since Lois was not being cooperative as was Clark, he didn’t see fit to have them both alive. Zod captured Clark, dragging him on the ground. Once the Solar Tower was shut down due to a computer virus, Clark regained his powers as Zod killed him using a Kryptonite dagger. He realized that if Clark went back in time, he would “destroy” the world he created.[edit] In the Comics
Although Major Zod doesn't appear in the comics himself, General Zod does. Back in the Silver Age of Comics, General Dru-Zod was first sent to the Phantom Zone because he had cloned himself and declared war on Krypton. Superman, then called Superboy, sent him back to the Zone to spend more time there.

[edit] Notes
- In the comics, clones of Zod have been used many times. During the Golden Age comics, Zod was imprisoned in the Phantom Zone for creating clones of himself and starting a war.
