2013

  • June 14th, 2013: Man of Steel opening, starring Henry Cavill as Superman with former Smallville alumni guest star Amy Adams in the iconic role of Lois Lane. Other Smallville guest stars appear in the film such as Mackenzie Gray as kryptonian Jax-Ur, Alessandro Juliani as a military sergeant and Tahmoh Penikett as Jed Eubanks, an Arctic worker interviewed by Lois Lane. Lana Lang in the film resembles closely to Kristin Kreuk's version of the character rather than from the comics and cartoons. The film also references Chloe Sullivan, Whitney Fordman and Clark Kent's action as were shown in the Pilot.[1]

  • April 5th, 2011: Tom Welling and Erica Durance are featured on the cover of TV Guide Magazine's April edition 11-17, Inside the magazine their is exclusive Smallville content coverage as well as interviews with the current cast and executive producers, a new photo shoot image of Erica and Tom plus a few spoilers about the final 5 episodes remaining for the series run .[3]
  • Callum Blue to return as Zod in Dominion. [4] [5]
  • Smallville guest star Amy Adams has been cast as Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman reboot. [6]
  • Smallville finished filming on March 25th, 2011. [7]
  • Allison Mack, John Schneider, and Annette O'Toole are returning for the series finale! [8]
  • The CW will re-air the episode Pilot on April 8th followed by the next week with the last new episodes of the series. [9]
  • Greg Beeman confirms he will direct the series finale. [10]
  • Micheal Rosenbaum to return for the series finale! [11]
  • Smallville's finale takes flight May 13 [12]
  • Laura Vandervoort will be making an appearance in one of the final five episodes of the series as Kara.
  • Allison Mack moves into Apple Cove, the new world-premiere comedy by Lynn Rosen. Director Giovanna Sardelli stages the production that officially opens Feb. 6 for a run through March 6. Let's hope that Allison can return for the last episode of the series.[13]

  • Although Michael Ausiello says producers are "cautiously optimistic" about a Michael Rosenbaum return for Smallville's finale, the man himself has said on Twitter that there haven't been any discussions lately. "Honestly don't know where people get their information from, but i haven't discussed Smallville with Producers or anyone in quite some time."
  • Lucas Grabeel, who portrayed young Lex in Season 6 Reunion, has announced on his Twitter page, that he'll be returning to reprise his role on Smallville, this time, as Lex Luthor in his early teens.
  • Annette O'Toole and John Glover both return in Beacon. Kryptonsite.
  • Allison Mack will return briefly in Icarus, for the entire episode in Collateral and appear in the following episode Beacon. Kryptonsite.
  • Helen Slater confirms that she and Julian Sands will return as Jor-El and Lara in Abandoned. [14]
  • Smallville's producers are currently gearing up to write Allison Mack's return, which will come around the middle of the season. Kelly Souders told a group of reporters (including KryptonSite) this about Chloe's comeback: "She has a fun introduction when she comes back into the show."Kryptonsite
  • Justin Hartley confirms he will direct Season 10's 19th episode Dominion. [15]
  • Happy Birthday to Laura Vandervoort who turned 26 on September 22.

  • In January, Cassidy Freeman talked to TVDramas.com about her role on the show here, and indicated that she is on board for a possible ninth season of the show.
  • Sam Witwer had two interviews out in January. he talked to TVGuide.com here and had a video interview with the CW Source here.
  • Michael Rosenbaum gave an interview in early January briefly discussing a possible return to the show which can be read here. Rosenbaum also voiced the character "Deadman" on an episode of Cartoon Network's program Batman: The Brave and the Bold,. More details can be found here.
  • Kristin Kreuk talked to TVGuide.com here and SciFi Wire here about returning to Smallville in mid-January.
  • During the Winter hiatus, the CW released a new preview trailer for upcoming episodes, which can be seen on Smallville's official website here.
  • Erica Durance gave a video interview to TVGuide.com on November 19, 2008, which can be seen here.
  • Sam Witwer gave two interviews in November. One to the New York Post discussing his role as Davis Bloome here. and a video interview to E!Online which can be seen here.
  • UK newssite Metro.co interviewed Kristin Kreuk. She discussed her five appearances this year on Smallville and her future plans here.
  • The New York Times had a brief article on the episode Legion which can be read here. Additionally, there was a two-page article about the episode in the January 12, 2009 newsstand issue of "TV Guide" magazine.

2008

  • Allison Mack announced on her blog that, "As some of you may know, I am directing this season. I was let off the hook last season due to the writer's strike, but now this season it is back on again." [16]

  • It was announced that The Graysons is a new pilot being developed by Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders. Much like Smallville features the story of Clark Kent before he became Superman, "The Graysons" will feature the origin story of Dick "DJ" Grayson before he became the superhero Robin. However, plans for the show were later scrapped for the near future.[17]
  • September marks the 20th anniversary of Superman returning to television twice. Superman (the cartoon) debuted on CBS's Saturday Morning Line-Up. Superboy: The Series (John Hymes Newton and Gerard Christopher) debuted in syndication in 1988.
  • Michael Rosenbaum, Smallville's Lex Luthor, appeared at Dragon*Con in Atlanta, Georgia on August 29- September 1, 2008.[18]
  • Several news outlets had dozens of interviews following the Smallville panel of the San Diego ComicCon on July 27, 2008, discussing Season Eight spoilers with cast members and show runners. Links to many of them can be found on the News page.
  • Happy birthday to Erica Durance, who plays Lois Lane. She turned 30 on June 21.
  • Happy birthday to the "Big Red S". Superman turns 70 this year (June 2008).
  • Happy birthday to Allison Mack, who plays Chloe Sullivan. She turned 26 on July 29.

  • Smallville's Lois Lane, Erica Durance, was named TVGuide's "Sexiest Sci-Fi Female" for their "TV's Sexiest Stars" issue, out on newsstands now. Tom Welling was runner-up for "Sexiest Sci-Fi" male.
  • Series creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have announced that they are no longer serving as executive producers for the show's eighth season. They posted a letter to fans on KryptonSite, which can be read here.
  • On March 3, 2008, the CW officially renewed Smallville for an eighth season, to start airing in the fall of 2008.
  • The Official Companion for Season 6 of Smallville is now available from Titan Books, featuring an exclusive foreword by Justin Hartley.

  • Allison Mack represented Smallville and the The CW on the cover of TVGuide's March 31 issue, which gave details post-strike "Returning Shows".
  • Series creators Alfred Gough & Miles Millar announced on April 1 that they will depart from the show after seventh season ends. Shortly after, Kelly Souders, Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer were named new executive producers. [22][23]
  • Smallville was renewed by the CW for an eighth season by the CW on March 2, 2008.[24]

  • Congratulations to big-screen Superman Brandon Routh, who married his longtime girlfriend Courtney on Saturday, November 24, 2007. [27]
  • The animated film, Superman Doomsday, is now available on DVD. A preview can be seen on the DVD's website.
  • Series co-creater Al Gough answered fan questions for TV Guide.com again. Part 1 can be read here. and Part 2 is here. (Apparently three parts were planned but the third was not released online.)
  • ENI posted an interview with Laura Vandervoort on October 5, 2007. Part one can be read here and part two is here. Additionally, she gave an interview to E!Online here.
  • Congratulations to Allison Mack, who won the Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Sidekick for the second time in a row on August 26, 2007. Michael Rosenbaum was also nominated for Choice TV Villain.[29]
  • The CW confirmed on August 6, 2007, that Helen Slater will appear on the sixth episode of Season 7, entitled Lara. She will be playing Kara's aunt, Clark's biological mother Lara-El. Slater is famous for portraying the title character in the 1984 film Supergirl. [30]
  • Producers and writers of the show attended the Comic-Con convention on July 28, 2007 and offered preview clips and details for Season 7. IGN.com has a video interview with Laura Vandervoort and a summary of the panel here.
  • KryptonSite posted the official press release announcing the arrival of Clark's cousin Kara, which can be read here, and the first photograph of the character here on July 21, 2007. She will be played by Canadian actress Laura Vandervoort.
  • TVGuide.com reported on July 7, 2007, that Michael Cassidy has been cast as the new editor of the Daily Planet, Gabriel Grant, who will appear in several episodes of Season 7. The article can be read here at TVGuide.com.
  • Superman Returns swept the Saturn Award nominations with a leading ten. It won five awards at the May 10, 2007 ceremony: Best Actor, Best Fantasy Film, Best Writing, Best Music, and Best Director.
  • The Profiles in History auction house event in April 2007 sold an original costume from the 1978 Superman film worn by Christopher Reeve to a very devoted fan for $115,000. Other props from the movie including copies of the script were also offered and a 1995 Batsuit went for $63,250. [32]
  • Al Gough gave iF Magazine an interview in May 2007 about the show's future here. He discusses Season 7, in which he plans to explore Chloe's meteor power and introduce more mythology, new relationships, and other DC Comics characters into the show.
  • Tom Welling beat out sixty-three other competitors to win the March Madness Hottest Man on Television tournament conducted in early April 2007 by television blog TiFaux.com. The runner-up was Prison Break star Wentworth Miller, and Tom's female co-champion was fellow CW star Kristen Bell of Veronica Mars.
  • Smallville received a Saturn Award nomination for Best Network Television Series. Allison Mack also received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series for her portrayal of Chloe Sullivan. The awards were handed out on May 10, 2007, but Smallville lost to Heroes and Mack lost to Hayden Panettiere, also on Heroes. [33]
  • SciFi Wire spoke to co-executive producer Stephen DeKnight, who gave a few clues on upcoming storylines of the last few episodes of Season 6, which can be read here, on April 2, 2007.
  • Comics Continuum posted highlights of Al Gough and Miles Millar's February convention appearance here, in which they answered a multitude of fan questions, on February 15, 2007. They talked about Smallville's relationship to other DC Comics characters and discuss upcoming storylines.

2006

  • Smallville won an Emmy for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series, for the Season 5 premiere Arrival on August 27, 2006.
