The Nicodemus flower

"On God's green earth, this flower was the thief in the temple, the silent temptress that, with a single sneeze, brought out the basest instincts in men and drove them to violence." - Lex Luthor (from the diary of a priest), Nicodemus

The Nicodemus flower is a rare flower that releases pollen that contains a spore toxin that releases the inhibitions of people.

It was brought back by Dr. Steven Hamilton, who used meteor rocks to reawaken long dormant Nicodemus seeds.

Early History[]

The Nicodemus flowers caused a major epidemic of fever, madness, and eventually death which caused a major epidemic in Smallville back in the 19th century.

Afterwards, the people torched the whole settlement to prevent the flowers that caused the epidemic from spreading.

The Nicodemus flower was been extinct for over a hundred years ago.

Season One[]

The flowers were brought back from Dr. Hamilton's experiments, in which he reawaken the dormant seeds through meteor rock irradiation.

The flower released toxic spores into the bloodstream and infected a LuthorCorp employee: James and later Jonathan Kent, Lana Lang, and Pete Ross.

While in the hospital, James fell into a coma an hour ago and about half an hour later, he succumbed to the effects of the Nicodemus and passed away.

Lex Luthor and Dr. Hamilton find a Native American cure from an old diary, which they used to heal the three infected individuals.

After they are cured, they had no memories of what happened while they were infected.

Notes[]

  • The origin of the name is that of Nicodemus in the Bible. He was a Pharisee who came to see Jesus by night. Jesus told him he must be "born again", which is what the flower does. It causes a "rebirth" of a new personality.
