Save Me

From Smallville Wiki

"Save Me" is a song by rock band Remy Zero. Taken from their album The Golden Hum, it reached #27 on the United States Billboard Modern Rock Charts, and acts as the theme song for the television show Smallville.

The song has a soaring anthemic chorus making it a natural choice for the superhero themed show[1]. Lyrics from the clip used as the theme: "Somebody save me/Let your warm hands break right through . . . c'mon I've been waiting for you" echo the issues presented in many Smallville episodes[2].

The song was featured as the opening song on the Smallville compilation CD: Smallville: The Talon Mix (2003). The Season 1 finale, titled "Tempest", features Remy Zero appearing at a high school dance and performing "Save Me"[3] and "Perfect Memory".

[edit] Lyrics

Remy Zero
Somebody save me! Let your warm hands break right through,
Somebody save me! Don't care how you do it,
Just stay, stay, come on, I've been waiting for you.
I've made this whole world shine for you.
Just stay, stay, come on.
The lyrics for the full song are:
I feel my wings have broken in your hands.
I feel the words unspoken inside.
And they pull you under .
And I will give you anything you want, know.
You were all I wanted.
And all my dreams are on the ground.
Crawling around.
Somebody save me! Let your warm hands break right through,
Somebody save me! Don't care how you do it,
Just stay, stay, come on, I've been waiting for you.
I see the world as folded in your heart.
I feel the waves crash down inside.
And they pull me under.
And I will give you anything you want, know.
You were all I wanted.
And all my dreams have fallen down.
Crawling around.
Somebody save me! Let your warm hands break right through,
Somebody save me! Don't care how you do it,
Just stay, stay, come on, I've been waiting for you.
And all my dreams are on the ground.
Crawing around.
Somebody save me! Let your warm hands break right through,
Somebody save me! Don't care how you do it,
Just save me.
I made this whole world shine for you.
Just stay, stay.
Come on.
I'm still wating for you.

[edit] Notes

  • The song is actually 4:02, but it was shortened to 0:50 for the theme song.
  • Remy Zero performed the shortened version of the song in the episode Tempest where they perform for the school dance.
