In fact, initially the show producers were going to "reveal" that Adam Knight was Bruce Wayne, but Christopher Nolan bought out the Batman film franchise to produce the rebooted Batman movies, thus annulling any such possibility.

I removed this line because I question its veracity. It needs to be sourced if it's going to be stated as fact. According to the wikipedia:Batman Begins page, Nolan was hired in January of 2003 and had production for the movie going on in July, a full six months before Adam Knight was introduced. The show is only filmed a few months before it airs. As both are Warner Bros productions, the producers of Smallville had to have been well aware that a Batman film was in the works before they wrote Adam into the plot.
