Talk:Brainiac
From Smallville Wiki
in what episode does braniac appear in bangladesh.
- There's one episode where Lex is tracking his wherabouts on his computer, and he gets like, five live simultaneous videocasts of his workers reporting his location from all different parts of the globe. I think that's where these details come from. Marikology 22:32, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Brainiac created by Jor-El
Anyone else surprised by this one?! I havent seen all the Brainiac eps so am reluctant to rework this entry - did they ever say definitively on the show that General Zod created Brainiac? Or did Jor-El create it in an attempt to save the planet, and then General Zod took it over somehow? --Kanamekun 12:58, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Dax-Ur designed Brainiac and then realised that it oculd destroy worlds so abanded his work and fled to earth to reconcile. When General Zod started the war on Krypton Jor-El created Brainiac using Dax-Ur's designs to fight against Zod but sometime during the war Zod corrupted Brainiac's system which is where he comes to Smallville in "Arrival". --Nicholsy 15:07 4 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm suprise that they retconned Dax-ur creating Brainiac and change that into Jor-el creating Brainiac. So should change it say that Jor-el created his own Brainiac --User:Ironman29758 5:13 4 May 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Brainiac has no determined gender!
Nearly everyone refers to Brainiac as a male person/entity. However, technically seen, Brainiac is a neuter. Milton Fine is just a human disguise of the entity.
And as to Brainiac's appearence in Bangladesh (and several other locations): I've never figured out where all the details came from (see Brainiac: Menace Around the World). Can anyone explain it to me???

- The answer to your second question has already been answered at the top the page-- Lex received multiple video reports from his workers reporting on sightings.Marikology 04:13, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- . Sorry, if my edit was ambiguous. In fact, I was aware of the video reports! I took a special interest in finding the source of the detailed edits. For example: "On La Reunion, a small island in the Indian Ocean, two little girls were suffering from the debilitating Chikungunya virus. A Brainiac duplicate appeared to them in the middle of night, formed his hand into a syringe, and took some blood from them. However, the girls could not prove that he was there, even though there were fresh needle marks on their arms."
- or
- "Another Brainiac duplicate appeared in Bangladesh, nosing around a Naga tribe that supposedly descended from headhunters. In the middle of the night, he took the Nipah virus, an advanced strain that killed a bunch of Bangladeshis in the town. This Brainiac made his way to Thakurgaon, where he took an object that the people there called a "death rock" (which was really a piece of kryptonite). Brainiac barged into the station, walked up to the evidence cage, and stared at the meteor rock. He used his heat vision to burn a hole to get it, then absorbed the rock into this own body before disappearing, heading across the border into Northern India."
- I don't remember a report containing all the information from above. Maybe, I've missed something on the DVD-Box? Further explanations would be greatly appreciated.
I don't wanna be annoying, trust me! Dva 12:16, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- I see what you mean now, those are very detailed, considering that I remember just little flashes of reports. But I only just recently got S5 on DVD and haven't rewatched the episode. In hindsight it sounds like fanfic... Maybe there was some sort of comic with these details? In any case, I'm cool with removing the details until an accurate source is stated. - I think this was all from the Project Mercury Blog found here.
[edit] Pic Debate
- I think we should keep the main pic for Brainiac, but update it with one of the new ones (such as the ones below my post) from Persona. We should still have the two Brainiac models in the main pic somewhere else, but still in the article. Thoughts?
- Personally, I like the standard screencap-size pics much better than the oddly-cropped promo pics in the character template. If you really want to use a new pic from Persona, I suggest you use the first one since you can see his face more clearly. Flash0816 16:21, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- I vote for the second :D (persona18), Looks more.. powerful :D

[edit] Appearances List
- As Brainiac appeared in more than 10 episodes, the full list doesn't appear. The "Appeared In" list should be deleted and replaced by a section with the list on the page, like there is for Jor-El, for example.

[edit] Milton Fine
I think the name of the page should be changed to Milton Fine, to be true to all the other hero/villian articles (Clark Kent, Mikkail Mxypltzk, etc.).
- Ah, interesting point. However in those cases, their true identity is as Clark Kent or Arthur Curry (or whoever)... their superhero names are their disguise. For Brainiac, he truly is a computer... his human identity is actually the disguise?
- If that logic makes sense at all, we can add a clarifying note to the naming section of the Policies guide... let me know what you think! --Kanamekun 21:04, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Brainiacs forms
Ok...In the comic series Infinate Crisis Brainiac makes an appearence but he is human with a verrry large head and was seen locked up in some speical containment (like a Star Wars Bacta Tank). When one of his buddys rescued him he made the gaurd kill himself and teleported (with his friend) to some other place on Earth. So the question is: Is he really Kryptoian or is he a superhuman 66.203.20.63 17:15, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Portrayal
Brainiac has been portrayed by several people. The main portrayer of Brainiac is actor James marsters. James Martsers portrayaled in Arrival, Aqua, Thirst, Splinter, Solitude, Hypnotic, Oracle, and Vessel of Season 5. Gough and Millar wanted Marsters for the role of Milton Fine/Brainiac. The pair wrote a draft for the major story arc of season five, knowing that they wanted a new villain on the show to fight Clark. With the arrival of the black ship at the end of Season 4, Gough and Millar decided to introduce Brainiac. To them, Marsters was the only actor they could envision that could fit the "menace, intelligence, and sexiness" that Brainiac was going to embody. Had Marsters declined the role, Gough and Millar would have rethought introducing Brainiac, as they could not think of any other actor that could fill those shoes. Marsters felt excited playing a character that was completely intentional; he likened the intention to that of a shark. As Marsters explains, "[Fine] was just composed of his intent. And that’s exciting—it’s like watching a shark. You don’t really ask how a shark is feeling—it’s pure."[citation needed]
Writer Steven DeKnight, who wrote for Marsters when he was portraying Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, used a different approach for Marsters when writing for him as Brainiac. Spike is more "snarky", and DeKnight felt that Fine is more sincere, and a "straight-ahead classic villain". This different approach to villainy worked well for Marsters, who wanted to show people that he could portray characters who were not just another "Spike". The actor was drawn to the series because of the "refreshing" take the producers had, as well as an appreciation for the idea of a show about Clark's journey toward becoming Superman.[citation needed]
Though the actor enjoyed playing the part of Brainiac, Marsters did have an initial apprehension about taking the role. As he is familiar with whom Brainiac is in the comics, Marsters did not wish to be turned green and wear the character's traditional pink outfit. The actor had to do little research on his character, as Brainiac's original back story only consisted of a few comic book panels. Marsters believes that his character wants to get rid of the humans because they are doing nothing but destroying their own planet, and Brainiac sees it as his duty to perform "pest control" on the species. The actor was going to appear in Season Six, but because his scheduled filled, the producers wanted to "close the door" on this storyline, so they "killed" his character. Later, Marsters was approached by Gough and Millar about returning to the show for Season 7; this time Marsters had free time in his schedule, and was able to return as Brainiac in Persona, Veritas, Apocalypse [citation needed]and Arctic.
[edit] Main Picture
What is this revert war over Brainiac's main profile picture? ArkillionXX and Ewokteddy, please come here to talk about it peacefully instead of just changing it. I would also like to hear what makes YOUR picture so much better then the other one. Thanks. BatteryB7 07:42, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
The main picture should be the one that best represents Brainiac. I feel that is my picture as it is very menacing as well as it shows Brainiac for what it is. Where the other picture is of his faked persona to trick Clark and jst merely looks like another man.Ewokteddy 18:57, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- Let's use a more current picture of Brainiac... maybe something from Arctic? --Kanamekun 04:05, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
- Here's a few I just took (I cropped Chloe out of the first one):

[edit] Featured Article March 2009
The Brain InterActive Construct, or Brainiac (also known as Milton Fine), is a Kryptonian artificial intelligence designed and built by the scientist Dax-Ur. A different version was later built by Jor-El to aid in the war against General Zod, but was corrupted and used to assist in the destruction of the planet Krypton. After escaping to Earth in the Black Ship, Brainiac assumed human form as Dr. Milton Fine, a professor at Central Kansas A&M attempting to trick Clark into releasing Zod but was defeated.
During the events of Dark Thursday, Brainiac unleashed a computer virus onto Earth causing worldwide panic. Brainiac then released General Zod into Lex Luthor's body. Clark destroyed Brainiac using the kryptonian dagger. A year and half later, Brainiac resurfaced killing his creator Dax-Ur to get the knowledge to repair his damaged system. Brainiac then put Lana Lang into a coma and had Kara follow him to Krypton to kill Kal-El as a baby whilst also attaching Doomsday to his ship. Clark followed to Krypton and stopped Brainiac however Lana Lang was still in a coma.
Brainiac returned to earth after a failed plan and posed as Kara Kent and killed Edward Teague, revealed Clark's secret to Lex, and tried to put Chloe Sullivan in a coma too. Something went wrong when Brainiac tried to do this to Chloe (possibly because of her healing powers), and he was left in a severely weakened state. An angry Clark hunted down a weakened Brainiac and overloaded him with electricity, causing him to explode. Lana and Chloe awoke from their comas and Lana left Smallville. It was revealed that Brainiac had put the real Kara Kent in the Phantom Zone.
Brainiac was later revealed to be not dead, and took over the Fortress while running a programme from inside Chloe Sullivan whom part of him was inside to get Doomsday to him for his plan to gain infinate knowledge and to leave Doomsday to destroy earth. He was subsequently defeated by Clark and the Legion of Super-Heroes and taken to the 31st century by the Legion to be reprogrammed as a new Brainiac 5.
[edit] Milton Fine
I know he's the same person, but could we make a separate article for Milton Fine. NewYorkCity101 20:51, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
- There was a a separate article for him but it was merged with this article. But please tell why do you feel we need a separate articles again? - BatteryB7 21:16, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
