Special effect: lightweight hay bales
Edit
There has been some small debate over exactly what Al Gough said in the commentary about how they show Clark's super strength whenever he is loading the truck with something, so I transcribed this bit from the commentary on this episode, which accompanies the DVD. -Samantha's Mom 22:56, 13 January 2007 (UTC) "And here is, you know, again Jonathan and Clark, and we sort of missed it there, but um, you should see with the hay bales, I, something that Tom obviously always likes to play the strength of it, so he always does it, and they're not very heavy by the way, so Tom obviously is just sort of chucking them in there. Quite frankly you and I could do that, where John actually always pretends they're really heavy 'cause hay bales in real life are actually quite heavy, so he always, so we always see him with the effort. John is very much into the reality of a guy running a farm, so he always likes to, he says you know I don't have time to like read the paper or drink coffee or things like that, so when you see him on the farm he's always working and always doing something."
- Here's the problem- we're driving each other crazy because we're listening to two different commentaries! The other commmentary features Clark, Lana, and Lex, and James Marshall and Greg Beeman. I don't know why they would say two different things, so I guess we could include both or none. The other commentary has this exchange:
- Producer:"Now you know what we do, here on the farm, we actually make the straw bales that Tom lifts filled with uh, like, Styrofoam..."
- Rosenbaum: "You DO?!"
- Producer: "...so that they're light and Schneider, we give the heavy bales."
- Welling: "Which causes the editors problems when they call Al and Miles down to say you've got an actor that is not working up to his full potential... (Kreuk laughs) He's just walking through a scene! And they have to remind the editor that I, that Clark actually has super strength."
- Rosenbaum: "True."
the good thing about all of this is that I now realize there ARE two different commentaries, and I've owned this set for months, dur... Marikology 03:31, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Where can I find the other commentary? -Samantha's Mom 03:50, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- It's weird it's not on the menu. The ep has three audio tracks, so use your remote to switch between and see if you can find it that way. If you can watch it on your computer, use RealPlayer and right-click as the episode is playing. Choose DVD Options/Audio Track/ and there should be 3 "English" options. The third one is the third commentary. Hope that helps, it's highly entertaining. Marikology 05:39, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
