Any user can use this box to pick a Featured Article. Select a completed, well-written article of any kind (except stubs or works-in-progress) and put your choice on the next available month. If you would like to write a blurb about the article to be featured on the Main Page, you can put it on the Talk page of the article. It can be placed on the Main Page on the first week of your chosen month. Blurbs should be between 3-500 words (including wiki formatting) and you can also indicate which photo you want to use. Templates

How do I make a template? ChaosMaster16 22:16, 10 July 2008 (UTC)ChaosMaster16

What I do is go to the page of one that already exists. Then I manually type in the name I want the new template to have in my browser window and press enter. It will say "oops, there is no article called that, do you want to start it?" then you're good to go. I am less inept at templates than I am at other logistical wiki things, so let me know if you can't figure it out or need any rough drafts deleted. Marikology 04:19, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Source Material

Do we have a list somewhere of all of the source material for the Smallville universe?

There are some comics... plus all the Chronicles... plus some short stories and contest prizes! Anyone have a sense for what's on the list? We can create a page on the canon of Smallville, maybe... --Kanamekun 14:04, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

There's a brief list on the Policies page. But you already knew that, right, Admin? ;) Marikology 21:53, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Yah I love that, but it's not really exhaustive? Like it doesn't list the specific Smallville official comics out there... and it doesn't mention the meeting notes of Veritas... etc. Ah well, I'll throw something together and see if it's useful! --Kanamekun 22:01, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
We now have a page for canon. Marikology 04:58, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Opening Credits

I always thought it'd be neat to do a shot-by-shot analysis of each scene shown in the opening credits of each season. What do you guys think... any interest? --Kanamekun 09:07, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

I like that idea. I can upload the opening credits' screenshots, I just need to know where. RedBlueBlur 04:33, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
Maybe a new page? Season 8 opening credits, etc. If you upload the screenshots, I could help identify any shots! --Kanamekun 05:33, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
I've uploaded the screenshots to Flickr, viewable here.[1] You can view the images at full size by clicking the thumbnails and then clicking the "all sizes" button. If you could help identify which episodes the images are from (the ones I haven't put in the descriptions) it would be extremely helpful! Thanks! RedBlueBlur 09:17, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
Wow, fantastic! I'll create the Season 8 opening credits page now... do you mind uploading them to the wiki? Then maybe we can work together on identifying all the screenshots. THANKS SO MUCH!! --Kanamekun 09:20, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
Done! They're uploaded. Do you have an AIM account or a similar way to talk live while we work on this? It may make it easier to communicate so we can make this page happen. I can tell this is going to turn out great! RedBlueBlur 09:36, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

New Featured Article Maybe?

Just wanted to swing by and maybe suggest a change of the featured article, being that the Brainiac one has been up there for a while.

I use this Wiki for all of my Smallville info first, so I'm here a lot.

I agree with this idea. May I suggest a recent article? Such as the Justice Society of America? or perhaps Lois Lane's visions?

I agree as well, Brainiac has been there a little too long. I think it's a good idea to change it to JSA or even Checkmate. Something that is up to date would be nice 'cause Brainiac hasn't been seen since Season Eight's Legion. Season 10's almost here, it's about time to say goodbye to Brainiac.
P.S., this is HoneiVladmir but I just haven't signed in today today.

Yes, i agree too it really starts to annoy. you should put something like Chloe Sullivan (since she just left the show), Lionel Luthor (who seems to be returning), Lex Luthor, Hawkman/Carter Hall, maybe an episode (Homecoming?), Davis Bloome/Doomsday, Jimmy Olsen (Henry James Olsen), Jonathan Kent, Jor-El, Clark himself.

But i personally think the best option would be Darkseid.

Well that's a lot of ideas, you could also change it every week or month

Yeah, I'm also thinking it's time for a new featured article. --SuperBlahBlah 18:25, October 16, 2010 (UTC)

Frontpage idea suggestion

Just an idea borrowed from another wiki. If you look at Lostpedia they have on their homepage a chart listing the airdates for the latest countries around the world. How about something similar for this site? I'm sure there are international fans here. Personally I'd be willing to help provide info on broadcasts for Ireland, hazzarding a guess I'd say there are UK fans here as well who might be able to provide UK airdates. MR IRISH 20:25, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

That sounds great! Shall we "borrow" the Lostpedia code and try something similar? You could post it here on the Talk page first, and once we have it working - then we could transition it to the frontpage. :-) --Kanamekun 20:33, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

The North Pole incorrectly referred to as "Arctic Circle"?

How come that the article isn't called "Arctic", or "The Arctic"? I know for a fact, that there is a difference between the Arctic and the Arctic Circle. Shouldn't the article be renamed?

Gifs

I'm not sure if it's just my computer or if everyone is having this problem too, so that's why I'm posting it here. Anyway, does anyone else notice a problem with some of the GIFs on this site? Few of them actually move when posted on a page while others just stay on one frame. Anyone else noticing this? --SuperBlahBlah 05:03, February 7, 2011 (UTC)

Random Quote

The problem that I have is that the Random Quote I guess stoped working, it's no longer a Random Quote it's the same quote everytime! I used to use those quotes to start off Daily Topics of Discussion :(

Who Was X, In Roulette's File???

In the episode Prophecy, it showed Roulette opening a file, with the lettter X. In a previous episode, X was Lex Luthor. Who's the X she was looking at?68.62.202.160 06:53, May 8, 2011 (UTC)Superfan14

No, I highly doubt that the 'X' was referring to Lex Luthor because one, he is currently dead and two, because Toyman used to work for him, so if he were back, it makes absolutely no sense for him to want to kill him. So, that leaves John Jones as the associated target. -- ImperiexSeed, 8:54 AM, May 7th 2011

What is a Protagonist?

It'd be great if we could define these terms, before adding them to the various episode pages. Thanks! --Kanamekun 15:50, July 11, 2011 (UTC)

For those who don't know what the term protagonist means; protagonist is the central or primary personal figure around whom the events of the narrative's plot revolve and with whom the audience is intended to most identify. Although the protagonist is often referred to as the "good guy", it is entirely possible for a story's protagonist to be the clear villain, or antihero, of the piece. See Wikipedia. --BatteryB7 16:02, July 11, 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, I should've been more clear. I know what a protagonist is. :-) I was wondering if we could definite it within the context of how it's starting to be used on the episode pages. For example, the "protagonist" on the Insurgence episode page is listed here as Maggie Sawyer... and it's qualified as, "Protagonist aid":
http://smallville.wikia.com/wiki/Insurgence#Notes
It's pretty rare for the protagonist to be anyone besides Clark. That's why I was asking about it... let me know what you think! --Kanamekun 19:19, July 11, 2011 (UTC)
Yep, I knew what you meant, Kanamekun, but I'm quessing that some users are not familiar with the term and more probably have misconceptions about it. So I just thought to bring everyone on the same page, sorry if I sounded condescending. --BatteryB7 19:29, July 11, 2011 (UTC)
If I could put my two cents worth. I think for the purpose of this wiki, the "Protagonist" listed in Notes would be a guest star who's of vital importance to that episode (much moreso than the average guest star) but is not only not an Antagonist, but is a real help to Clark and his friends. I've seen this listed on these episode pages as "Protagonist Aide" which I think is a much more accurate term. When I come across the word "Protagonist" used in the Notes section I always (meaning: starting today) change it to "Protagonist Aide". Hope that helps. K9feline2 19:36, July 11, 2011 (UTC)
I don't really understand the point of adding them - antagonists or protagonist aides. "Vital importance to that episode" sounds pretty subjective, and it doesn't add much value to the page. Also it makes everything seem black-and-white. --BatteryB7 19:50, July 11, 2011 (UTC)
I don't understand it either. --Kanamekun 20:00, July 11, 2011 (UTC)
I'd like to do a defense of the use of Antagonist. Almost every single episode of Smallville has at least one clear-cut Antagonist, which simply means the character opposed to the Protagonist. It doesn't always mean "Villain", although in the case of Smallville it usually does. That is, a character who does things most of us agree are "villainous" like assault and murder, and who must be stopped by the Protagonist. The use of Antagonist in the Notes section provides a quick heads-up to anybody who doesn't want to read the whole episode summary, and might even refresh the memory of viewers who haven't seen that episode in a while.
As for "Protagonist" or "Protagonist Aid", I agree the concept is a bit more nebulous and is not something I feel that strongly about. K9feline2 20:37, July 11, 2011 (UTC)

Superman Returns

I think maybe we should consider SR as some kind of epilog, alternale epilog / timeline for Smallville ?

We have the same costume of Clark, the same Fortness, similar Daily Planet building and many things that is tie between Smallville and S:R.

For example Lex says that he have been in Fortness before (Arctic), we see Jor-El. We have also son of Superman.

I'm wondering what the other users think about it ; )

We have a "Superman: The Movie" page that focuses on how that story is similar/different from Smallville.
If you want to create a page along those lines, I'd be open to it. It would have to focus on the similarities and differences, though! --Kanamekun 15:31, July 14, 2011 (UTC)
I thought about threated S:R as part of Smallville. Epilog or something. You know. For eg. in page "Clark Kent" make section 'S:R' and write what happened to him in this film. Also do the same in Lex, Lois, Jimmy, Martha and Perry and Jor-El. And add information to Clark and Lois that they have son.
Ah ok. Yah sorry, that's against our wiki policy. We only go by what's a canon source... --Kanamekun 15:48, July 14, 2011 (UTC)
But why can;t we treat S:R as part of canon ?
It was made a different writer and producer, and isn't meant to be consistent with Smallville. --Kanamekun 15:55, July 14, 2011 (UTC)
But can I make page for diffrences and similar between S;R and Smallville ?

Fan Fiction

There is simply too much fan fic on the site now. I can't even follow the recent edits.

Anyone else struggling with this? --Kanamekun 22:13, July 14, 2011 (UTC)

YES! I didn't want to say anything before 'cause I didn't want to upset anyone or anything, but man, there is just way too much fanfiction. Smallville has been over for only about 2 months and the place has already become almost purely focused only on fanfics. It's quite maddening. - [S.B.B] 04:45, July 15, 2011 (UTC)
I couldn't agree more. --BatteryB7 07:45, July 15, 2011 (UTC)
I was fine with it at first, until the sheer number of blog posts and comments started to interfere with the main goal of this wiki: to build an encyclopedia about the series.
Any thoughts or suggestions on how to address the issue? --Kanamekun 13:38, July 15, 2011 (UTC)
Well.... there is an easy solution, but there's a chance of a major fault. Since it is free to create a wiki, (It is, yeah?) a "Smallville fanfiction" wiki could be made and it could be asked to move all the stories to that site and remove them from here. However, of course, the fault to that is that the users ignore this site and purely focus on their stories over on the new wiki, but the chances of that happening are very slim...... right? - [S.B.B] 23:23, July 15, 2011 (UTC)
That is an absolutely brilliant idea, SuperBlahBlah!! I love it... how about http://smallvillefanfic.wikia.com as the new wikia for SV fanfic? --Kanamekun 23:32, July 15, 2011 (UTC)
Glad you like it. And that name works perfectly. :) - [S.B.B] 00:28, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, well, alot of the members and I think this a pretty unfair decision. Besides the fact the new wiki is crap, and most of our links lead here anyway, it was pretty unfair to have a 3 man, pretty much closed off decision. I mean, you just went and decided to do what you wanted, I wasn't allowed to do that with the Chloe's son page. And honestly, what gives you more right than any of us other users? Everytime we decide something important whatever we did was deleted with a summary that said "A group discussion is needed". You guys had a group of 3 admins, rather than most of the users, and still went with the minority vote, which was yours.--- Nat-Duv, the second to last son of krypton 03:05, July 31, 2011 (UTC)
Couldn't agree more, NatDuv, and yeah, that was a very unfair decision and how it came about, having three users just decide to "transfer all fanfiction" to another site, that like what NatDuv already described as, "crappy and definitely not the same as here". A poll/vote discussion rather than a 3-man one, would be preferred. -- ImperiexSeed, 11:15 PM, July 3oth 2011
This is not a majority decision. When the recent acticity list is filled with blog posts and comments, it's really hard to see recent edits and interfere with negligence, misuse, and other misconducts. Sorry guys, but when the number of blog posts creates this kind of problem, a line must be drawn.
Moving fanfiction to another site is a simple solution to that. If there's problems with fanfiction wiki, you need to try deal with them or contact wiki community central. You can also create a new wiki. --BatteryB7 08:41, July 31, 2011 (UTC)
But you see, not many of us users (myself included) would want to do that, as it would be a lot of work and too much of a hassle, and personally, the decisions of 3 users is hardly suitable for a such a conclusion. NatDuv and I, along with many others, are kind of frustrated with the whole idea. So please, take this into account! Thanks. -- ImperiexSeed, 11:00 AM, July 31st 2011
What's the problem exactly? Are you not able to transfer your work or, forgive me for asking, don't you just "feel like doing it". If that's the case, I sorry but there's nothing I or nobody can really do about it. If you have technical problems, please tell about them here.
We are not deleting fanfiction because we do not like it, we are doing this because the overflow of fanfic creates a problem as mentioned above, and we can't just ignore that because users can't or wont't move their work. Remember you are all welcome to offer another solution to this whole situation!--BatteryB7 15:56, July 31, 2011 (UTC)
I was able to transfer my stories to the other site just fine, that's not the problem I'm having, as the main problem at hand is the fact that the decision for the transfer was decided by three users, including Kanamekun, SuperBlahBlah and you. -- ImperiexSeed, 1:41 AM, July 31st 2011
I don't see the point in moving the FanFics anyway, considering most of our links lead here, having another Wiki just causes more web traffic. Plus, technically, we don't have to move, considering there's no wiki rule blocking popular blogs. Plus it's practically a three man argument, I mean, I edit alot of pages, as well as my blog and I have no problem keeping up with changes. But even so, what gives you the right to make such an important decision?--- Nat-Duv, the second to last son of krypton 23:29, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

The show has been over for 3 monthes now! What more editing could we need to do?!--OJOLara 18:53, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

OJOLara, there is always editing that needs to be done, even with the show gone, pages still need to be cleaned, new ones to be created, and deleting pointless pages; the point being, even though the show has ended, people still enjoy editing and there is still much to be done. -- ImperiexSeed, 4;27PM, July 31st 2011

You guys are right. This isn't a majority decision. I am making this decision as the main active admin of this wiki. I made it in close consultation with two of the editors who have contributed the most to the wiki.

The policy page of this wiki states that, "the purpose of the Smallville wiki is to accurately reflect what was seen on the show and other related source material." This is the purpose towards which I have contributed over 22,000 edits. Fan fiction has never been a part of that mission, and is in fact against the main purpose of reflecting what has been seen on the show.

Given how fan fiction is clearly counter to the stated purpose of this wiki, and how the recent influx of fan fiction has made editing this wiki very difficult, we have been forced to take action and discourage fanfic here. We are encourage fanfic creators to post instead to the separate http://smallvillefanfic.wikia.com website.

I am going to start gently reminding fanfic posters to post over on the other wiki starting this week. Then after a week or two, we will start enforcing the no fan fic policy. This includes promoting fan fic on other members' talk pages. Then after a little longer, we will start deleting any remaining fan fiction from the wiki.

I have been editing this wiki since 2007 and admining it since January 2008. A significant amount of my life has gone into editing for this wiki. I hope you can understand that I am protective of anything that prevents our fellow editors from continuing to build an encyclopedia that follows our stated purpose of accurately reflecting what was seen on the show. Thank you.

Best, --Kanamekun 02:38, August 1, 2011 (UTC)

Aquaman ( aka Mercy Reef). Should we count it ?

I think we should count 'Aquaman' (2006) as part of SMALLVILLE canon.

  • It's created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar
  • It'a produced by CW
  • It's starring Justin Hartey
  • There is no dicontinuities in both productions.

What do you think ?

Gough and Millar did not consider it a spin-off from Smallville, so it probably wasn't meant to be consistent with Smallville if the series would have been pic for production. --BatteryB7 19:17, July 20, 2011 (UTC)
Agreed. It was established as non-canon in a number of interviews, including here:
And while "Smallville" recently generated great ratings with an episode featuring an appearance by Aquaman, the new project won't be a spinoff. To underline that point, Alan Ritchson, the actor who played Curry on "Smallville," isn't under consideration for the role in the pilot.
"He did a wonderful job on the show, but this is going to be a different version of the 'Aquaman' legend," Gough said. The pilot "will be different than what you saw on 'Smallville.' That was our out-of-town trial version."
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117932862?refCatId=1236 --Kanamekun 19:42, July 20, 2011 (UTC)
"Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, the creators of Smallville, also considered a series featuring Lois Lane, but felt stronger about Aquaman."
"Gough did express the idea of a crossover with Smallville at some point." ; ))
Yah, definitely neat stuff! However, it's not canon.
If you want to create one page about it at "Aquaman (TV series)" though, you could do that! We could list the similarities and dissimilarities between that Aquaman and our Aquaman... --Kanamekun 13:21, July 22, 2011 (UTC)
We do have a page for the pilot.. --BatteryB7 13:39, July 22, 2011 (UTC)
Ah great catch, BatteryB7! --Kanamekun 13:41, July 22, 2011 (UTC)
@Kanamekun, you said the same thing about create page 'Superman Returns'. I crated page with many similatries, differences and homepages between SR and SMALLVILLE, and somebody deleted it all ; ///

Wiki background

Could we please get a new background for this wiki? 'Cause the current one really doesn't go with it and also just ends halfway down the page. Something Smallville related would be great. But maybe not the same image repeated over and over because that doesn't always look so good. (But, of course, that's just my opinion, if that is what everyone else wants, I'll go with it.) - [S.B.B] 18:04, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

I agree with this, I think the background make no sense with Smallville. Another image is 100% better.--Small Owl 21:02, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

Spoilers

I'm watching through the show for the first time and whenever I do that, I periodically like to look at the wiki of the show. I'm probably not the only one who does that. Anyway, I find the "Status" section that lists whether a character is dead or not to be increadibly frustrating. It's right there at the top of the page. Other wikis don't do this. It's annoying to look up a character that just showed up on the show and than come here to find they're dead. Major spoilers like that can hurt the enjoyment of the show. I believe these "Status" sections should be removed.Iammeiamme 08:19, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry to have spoiled your viewing experience!
Unfortunately, wikis usually aren't a great place to browse when you're behind on watching episodes. That's true for Wikipedia and other wikias as well - for example, here's a sample character page from "24" that shows the fate of a character in the infobox: http://24.wikia.com/wiki/Nina_Myers
You mentioned that other wikis don't do this... can you post some links so we could check them out? Thanks! --Kanamekun 19:56, October 21, 2011 (UTC)
It seems you're right. Other wikis do do this. This is a habit I wish wikis wouldn't do: posting the fate of a character right at the top. It really does ruin the experience and makes the wiki largely useless. 152.13.249.73 01:46, October 23, 2011 (UTC)
Sorry about that! Yah, wikis are mostly useless until you're all caught up on all the episodes and/or books. I've had to stop reading Wikipedia for similar reasons! --Kanamekun 02:12, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

Season 11

So what about upcoming SEASON 11 (in comic book form). I think it should be counted as alls easons of Smallville. It's official Season Elven and its canonical.

  • Yeah, it should be. This is a Wikia about the whole Smallville-Universe and Season 11 is a part of it. JimmyOlsen 15:49, February 21, 2012 (UTC)
There are technical reasons why we should program the pages slightly differently... for example, episodes have episode numbers, writers, directors, broadcast dates, and production codes. But comics have different key things, and we can use a slightly different infobox.
Overall though, we plan to display the pages in such a way that they appear very similarly to the current episode and season pages! --Kanamekun 19:36, February 21, 2012 (UTC)
I think we shoudl make new infobox, similar to episode but with little changes. Also in "Finale. Part 2" should be Next Episode: Guardian. ; )) And some new categories as 'Season 11 Characters' or 'Season 11 Episodes' . -- Szopman
I agree with everything here except Guardian being placed as the next episode in the infobox for Finale, Part 2 that would just be misleading. Zodisgod 20:42, February 21, 2012 (UTC)
After for e.g. 7x20 there is "Next Episode: Oddysey (8x01)". So after 10x22 should be 11x01 . --Szopman
Yes but they are both tv episodes, this will confuse people because its a different media. Zodisgod 21:03, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
I'm confused about what you're asking.. If you're asking if the Season 11 comic should be related to the episodes, than no. Totally separate concepts. -- ImperiexSeed, 3:52 PM, February 23rd 2012
But why ? SEASON 11 is just another season of SMALLVILLE and it's equal to the all previous 10 seasons of this show. -- Szopman
But they aren't the same one is a tv series, the other is a comi. It would be misleading to readers who could believe there are more tv episodes after Finale, Part 2, therefore it just cant be done like that. Zodisgod 20:29, February 26, 2012 (UTC)
but this is OFFICIAL 11TH SEASON, so it should be count as normal episodes. -- Szopman.
But they aren't episodes so they can't be counted as such. Zodisgod 19:15, March 2, 2012 (UTC)
Although it may have no bearing on Smallville Wiki, I must point out that the comic books for Charmed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel are counted as normal episodes on their respective wikis. 76.212.194.240 09:13, March 5, 2012 (UTC)

Moving to Arrow

Hey, I just want to say how well done and complete this wiki page is. Great job guys, but I think we should continue our editing work on the Arrow wiki based off the Green Arrow character.
