It's possible that this strange, Kryptonian disease was to be used on the Earth by Zod during Dark Thursday after reshaping it's crust in order to wipe out humanity. Thus being the reason for Brainiac's manipulation of Lex in Hypnotic which ultimately lead to Project Mercury.

I'm curious about the 3 notes Lionel plays on the Piano near the end after Lex storms out. Online at the time of the original airing it was constantly speculated as "Three Blind Mice" - but that seems too simplistic as you can have any descending scale of 3 notes sound that way and the classical starting notes for TBM is E D C, The notes Lionel plays are C A# G#. While one could play techincally TBM on this scale (as with any song being able to switch scales), it isn't the traditional notes and the usage of sharps instead of strictly regular keys leads me to think there was something missed here.74.140.130.195 03:12, October 25, 2013 (UTC)
