[edit] In Other Media
- Fans have already gone on messages boards with the theory that the character of Tess is Smallville's version of the Superman movies character, Miss Tessmacher.
- Another theory that fans have accumulated to is that Tess is the alter-ego of comic book character Maxima who travels to earth to find Superman as a mate who when he rejects her, becomes a villain. This theory has arisen as Maxima has psychic powers and in teh description it says even Clark can't resist her which suggests that and also that she is strong with Maxima having Super strength.

[edit] Eve Teschmacher
- Honestly guys, if Tess MERCER isn't a hint as to who the character is modelled after, I don't know what is... Troy 15:22, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- Actually I think that Tess is the smallville version of Mercy Graves and Ms. Eve Teschmacher.User:Ironman29758 15:22, May 03 2009 (UTC)
- That is indeed where her name comes from, but the producers have said she's her own character. Marikology 22:19, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- "She is a nod to both Ms. Teschmacher [from Superman: The Movie] with Tess, and then her last name, Mercer, is a nod to Mercy from the comic books," Swimmer said in during an interview at Comic-Con International in San Diego over the weekend. "But she is neither Teschmacher nor Mercy. We are taking a little bit of both, but the storyline and who she is and where she came from and where she is going is completely created by the [producers]." [1]
[edit] Tess' status
Is Tess now the official owner of all of Lex's assets? In Turbulence she was starting something called the Mercer Media Group, is that her new company?
[edit] Tess' Personality Section
Tess's personality section needs a total revamp!
A few notes/brainstorms on her personality:
- She is capable of great brutality and violence: she personally poisoned Marcos, dooming him to an almost certain death. She didn't just kill Regan Matthews in Power, she let her rage out on him! She also attempted to kill Lana. She blew up Davis Bloome in his car, fully planning on killing him.
- She truly loved Lex, and would've done anything for him... but was incredibly upset when she discovered that he had been spying on her through ocular implants. When she feels betrayed, she can be very vindictive.
- She has inherited Lex and Lionel's obsession with the Traveler... why? For Lionel, it was about controlling the Traveler. For Lex, it was about getting power and fulfilling his narcissistic desire to be the protector of all Humanity. What draws Tess to the Traveler?
- She wants to help Clark fulfill his destiny... just like Lex did. She's offered to help Clark several times, and has opened up to Clark about her secrets... expecting that Clark do the same in return.
- She gave Lois a raise after Faora threatened her... will have to think about what that means. Ideas?
- Part of Tess seems to be "good" and deeply caring... especially when she was on the island. Did she start off good, and then turn bad when she met Lex?
Would love to hear any thoughts/additions to these ideas! If we can hash it out, we can swap out Tess' existing personality section (which I think just came from the press releases at the beginning of the season). Kanamekun 08:04, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
- I've been thinking about Tess, and she's insane. When did she go "crazy"... i.e. willing to kill people at the drop of a hat, for vengeance or to further her agenda. --Kanamekun 05:01, September 9, 2009 (UTC)
