I deleted one of the notes about the discontinuity of nightfall because there is nothing in the episode (except convention) that indicates the dance is in the evening/after nightfall. It is daylight when Chloe picks Clark up for the dance and when they arrive. Presumably, Clark danced with Chloe once and left shortly after he arrived. Marikology 00:30, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

The tornado arrives in Smallville while Clark and Chloe are at the spring formal, presumably in the evening, after dinner, about 9PM. Even in the late spring, it should be dark by that hour. During the storm it is dark because of all the cloud cover, but as soon as the twister dissipates, there are blue skies south of Smallville where Clark has rescued Lana. It is still daylight when he rushes home to check on his mother. It is still bright daylight when Clark starts looking for his dad. Night has not descended until Lex shows up at the Kent Farm to help Clark look for Clark's dad.
