- I haven't seen season 1 in a while, but I remember a few things. Even though he was the football star, I remember more than one referece to his insecurity. Lana mentions that he only sees himself as a football jock but she saw so much more, and his assault on Clark stemmed from seeing Clark talk to Lana. He was bitter about having to work in his father's store, and like Lana, talked often about leaving SV to move onto something greater. I'd say he had a lot of dreams and goals, but lacked the confidence to carry them out. Everyone thought his decision to enlist was impulsive. Marikology
